About Us

The Northern California Association of Nonprofits (NorCAN) is a regional network of organizations and leaders connected in our dedication to strengthening our communities.

NorCAN was established in 1999 by Humboldt Area Foundation (HAF) to serve the rural nonprofit sector in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity Counties. Now operated by the ERV Community Center Foundation in Fortuna, NorCAN is dedicated to connecting organizations that are doing good work in the region so that they can avoid operating in isolation. We believe that when organizations share information, expertise, and resources, they can be more effective and efficient in their work and make deeper impacts in the communities they serve. To support this goal, we provide a range of resources and services, including training programs, professional development opportunities, and networking events. Our aim is to help nonprofits to collaborate, learn from each other, and achieve their missions more effectively.
